How ThunChat Works, From First Tap to Follow
ThunChat is a one-on-one chat site with three match modes, an online list, messages and a short video feed. This page explains each part in the order you will use it, including what is free and what uses coins.

The short version
ThunChat pairs you with one stranger at a time. You choose how: on camera, by voice or by typing. If the chat works, you keep going and maybe follow each other. If it does not, you tap Next and meet someone new. Everything else on the site, the online list, messages, the short video feed, exists to make those chats easier to start and easier to come back to.
Arrive as a guest
Open ThunChat and you are set up as a guest automatically. No email, password or real name.
Open the match screen
Any Start button takes you there. Video, Audio and Text sit along the bottom; Video is selected first.
Get matched
Tap Start and you are paired with one stranger who is looking at the same moment.
Stay or tap Next
Keep talking as long as it works. Tap Next to end the chat and meet someone else.
Follow the good ones
Follow someone before the chat ends. Later, message them or call on camera from their profile.
What are the three match modes?
Video, Audio and Text. All three sit on the match screen, Video is selected first, and you choose before every match. A random match then stays in the mode you picked until it ends; to change, tap Next and pick another mode.

There is no gender or location filter on random matching. If you want to choose who you talk to, use the online list instead. The page on 1v1 video chat explains why every match is one to one.
The free part, explained
What is free on ThunChat?
Starting is free. New visitors get some free matches, the Reward Center offers more several times a day while you are online, and after that matching uses coins. Here is each part in the order you will meet it, with the details that matter.
- Free matches when you arrive. New visitors get some free matches to begin with, so you can try the modes before deciding anything.
- The Reward Center. At the top of the match screen there is a Reward Center. Once you have been online for a while it offers more free matches to claim, and it does that several times a day. When something is ready to claim, the entry lights up; otherwise it counts down to the next one.
- Coins after that. When your free matches are used up, matching continues with coins, which you can buy in the app.
- VIP, if you want it. VIP is an optional membership. Its privileges are listed in the app before you choose a plan.
We do not publish fixed numbers for free matches or reward timing, because they are set on our side and can change. What will not change is the order above: free to start, rewards while you are around, coins when you want more.
How do follows and messages work?
A random match disappears the moment either of you taps Next. Following someone is how you keep them. Once you follow a person, their profile is where you find them again: you can send a message, or start a call on camera directly.
Messages live in your Messages tab. Text messages can be translated automatically, which is handy when you met someone from another country and typing is easier than talking. Translation applies to text, not to voice or video.
The online list, the short video feed and Live
The online list is made of people who are around right now. It is the alternative to chance: scroll, pick someone, open their profile. Many people use it when they already know they want a girl video chat rather than a surprise.
The short video feed is a scroll of clips from people on ThunChat. It has a Live tab where you can watch streams that are on now. You can watch and join in there, but you cannot start a stream of your own.
Does ThunChat work on phones and computers?
ThunChat runs in the browser. On iPhone and Android, use a current mobile browser; on a laptop or desktop, any current browser on Windows or Mac will do. There is nothing to download. If you would like an icon, add the site to your home screen and it opens like an app.
When something does not work, it is nearly always a permission: the browser has blocked the camera or microphone. The contact page has the quick fixes, and the safety page covers blocking and reporting. Everything else starts from the ThunChat front page.

Do I need an account to use ThunChat?
No. You are set up as a guest when you arrive and can start matching straight away.
How many free matches do I get?
New visitors get some free matches, and the Reward Center offers more several times a day while you are online. We do not publish a fixed number because it is set on our side and can change.
What happens when my free matches run out?
Matching continues with coins, which you can buy in the app. You can also wait for the Reward Center to offer more.
Can I switch modes during a random match?
No. A random match stays in the mode you chose. Pick a different mode for your next match, or follow the person and call from their profile.
Are messages translated?
Text messages can be translated automatically. Voice and video are not translated.
