ThunChat Privacy Policy
ThunChat runs a website where people are matched one to one with strangers by video, voice or text. Doing that means handling some information about the people who use it. This policy explains which information, what we use it for, who else is involved and the choices you have. Questions about any of it can go to [email protected].

This policy applies to everyone who uses thunchat.com, whether as a guest or with a fuller profile, in a browser or from a shortcut on a home screen. It starts to apply as soon as the site loads, because a guest session is created on your first visit so that matching can work.
In this policy, “ThunChat”, “we” and “us” mean the team that operates thunchat.com.
To connect a video or voice call, audio and video have to pass between you and the other person through the service. Text sent in a text match or through Messages is delivered and stored so that both people can see the conversation.
When a text message is translated automatically, its text is processed by a translation service so it can be shown in another language. Translation is not applied to voice or video.
Anything you show or say reaches a real person, who can see, hear and remember it. We cannot control what someone does on their own device, so please think before sharing anything personal.
We work with service providers for hosting, content delivery, real-time media, translation, analytics and payments. They handle information on our behalf and only for those purposes.
We may disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, or when we believe it is needed to protect someone from serious harm. Nobody can buy your personal information from ThunChat.
Information stays with us only while one of the purposes above still needs it. Session and usage data is kept for shorter periods than purchase records, which we may need to keep longer for accounting and legal reasons. Information related to a report may be kept while the report is open and for a period afterwards to prevent repeat abuse.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we handle, such as access controls for our team and secure HTTPS connections between your browser and our servers. No online service can promise perfect security, so please also protect your own device and keep personal details out of chats.
ThunChat is for people aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where they live if that is higher. We do not knowingly allow younger people to use it. If you believe someone underage is using ThunChat, report the account or email us and we will act on it.
People from many countries use ThunChat, and the providers we work with may process information in countries other than yours. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps so that your information remains protected in line with this policy.
When our handling of information changes, this page and its date change with it. For significant changes we will make a reasonable effort to let users know in the service. Continuing to use ThunChat after an update means the updated policy applies.
